• Vaccination
Ideally kittens should receive their first vaccination at nine weeks of age. They will then need a booster 3-4 weeks later. Following this they will require annual vaccinations. This vaccination covers cat flu and cat parvo.
• Worming
If you breed kittens they will need to be wormed at 2,4,6,8 and 12 weeks of age. Following this they will need to be wormed monthly until they are six months old.
An adult cat should be wormed with an ‘All’ wormer every 3-6 months
• Flea control
We recommend using Frontline Plus on your cats if you have a flea problem. Frontline Plus can be used on kittens over 8 weeks old. Prior to this you can use Frontline spray on kittens that are over two days old.
Another option is to use Revolution. Revolution has a flea and worm treatment component. However it is important to give your cat an allwormer as Revolution will only treat roundworms.
• Feeding/nutrition
We recommend that for the first year that you feed your kitten specific kitten food as this will provide them with a complete and balanced diet required for growth and development. After this we recommend that they are fed an adult food. We have in store a wide range of specialist products that will meet your cats individual needs. These include those for Seniors, Sensitive skin, Hair ball, and Sensitive stomachs.
The brands that we recommend and sell are Eukanuba, Iams and Hills Science Diet.
• Speying/neutering
We recommend that you spey or neuter your kitten any time after six months of age. If you purchase a cat around this age with an unknown history we offer a discount on its vaccination when you bring it in to be speyed or neutered.
