Dr CHRIS PETERSON BVSc MACVSc Principal Veterinarian Chris has worked here for an undisclosed but significant number of years, having previously worked in Tauranga, the Manawatu and at Massey University. He has a particular interest in Equine and Dairy work, but covers all areas of the business. A growing part of Chris’s work load is doing Pre-Purchase examinations for prospective horse owners. Chris’s passion for horses is noticed during the winter when he is absent from work every Wednesday for mid week hunting, where he assists with running the hounds. During summer he travels the country competing in showjumping competitions. Chris and his wife Gillian now live in Whakatane and Chris works from both clinics. Back to top Dr SANDRA HEGH BVSc Veterinarian Sandy co-ordinates the health check programme that we provide for our dairy clients. She also has a keen interest in small animal orthopaedic surgery. She does all the orthopaedic surgery for both clinics, not only cats and dogs but has also operated on Kiwis that had been caught in possum traps. Horses and dogs are other passions of Sandy’s. She enjoys taking her horses and dogs out on the beach, and is also a keen tally-ho hunter during the winter. Sandy is also an advocate of barefoot trimming in horses. Back to top Dr JOANNE ALLAN BVSc Veterinarian Jo enjoys doing small animal medicine and surgery, although she does also cover farm calls as required. Jo is a breeder of Belgian Shepherds, and has a very keen interest in all facets of dog training, obedience, agility and breed showing. She really enjoys competing with her dogs. Back to top Dr HANNA LOEFFLER Veterinarian Hanna joined our Veterinary team in 2010, after graduating from Massey University. She is originally from Holland but is now a Kiwi. Back to top BRIDGET MALCOLM BAgrSc(Hons) Commercial Manager / Veterinary technician Bridget joined our clinic in 2004, working as a technician. She has since taken over the Commercial Managers role for both clinics. She has worked for a number of years in the sheep and beef industry both as a shepherd and a casual musterer, mainly in the Taupo and Matawai areas. She still keeps an interest here with breeding working dogs. Bridget also has a keen interest in horses, ranging from breeding and handling, through to hunting and showing. Back to top JANET EVANS Receptionist Janet is our number one front line staff member. She is very efficient and takes on a vet nurses role whenever Petra or Kerri are away or a vet needs an extra set of hands. Janet and her husband Tony have been in Opotiki for 30 years, and were previously breeding and showing Great Danes. Back to top ALLISTER WATSON Commercial Sales Allister joined our team in 2009. He has a farming background including drystock, dairy and even pig farming! In more recent years Allister has been a car salesman. Allister is a local person who enjoys rugby, league and cricket and enjoys spending time with his daughter. Back to top TANIA PRICE Administration Support Tania joined the team in April 2011. For the past five years Tania has enjoyed part time employment that has included seasonal AI Tecnician for L.I.C in the Taneatua, Waimana area. Prior to 2007 she and her partner 50/50 sharemilked at Taneatua for 13 years. Spare time activities include Horse riding and fishing.
